Synopsis: Early in the twentieth century, indigenous Maya left the highland plains because of deforestation and overcrowding and settled in Saq Ja, a small, remote village In the mountains of central Guatemala. Don Margarito and his friends planted and tended the forest that remains the heart of their village. This is the story of the Mayan reverence for the earth, passed from one generation to the next. As the deforesting effects of climate change become clear, the ways of the Maya offer timely wisdom for a planet in peril.
