Publishing With Hard Ball
We are open to review stories of labor & social justice for grownups and children. Submit a short letter with three elements: (1) a summary of the story, (2) the work experience & training that enabled you to write the book, and (3) your plan for marketing the book.

Selling books in today’s marketplace is a tough, uphill slog. There are close to 3/4 million new books coming out every year. You need to have realistic expectations and be willing to work hard the day you sign a contract to market your book.

Submit the first 10 pages of an adult book along with a summary of the book. For a children’s book, submit the completed draft and illustrations if you have them.

Because we are a small company, we are limited to releasing 3-4 books/year. We work hard marketing our books, submitting for reviews and blurbs, sending out notices and PDF versions for children’s books.

Contract

If we accept your work for publication, you will be offered a contract that specifies what licensing rights you are granting to Hard Ball Press and what rights you retain. We do not pay an advance. Once the book is released, you will receive royalties for book sales on a quarterly basis, whenever your sales exceed 20 copies. Your royalties will be based on a percentage of the profits the book brings in.
